The outstanding complete first ascent of the Mazeno Ridge of Nanga Parbat
In 2012, after climbing for eleven days, Sandy Allan and Rick Allen reached the summit of Nanga Parbat having completed the first ascent of the 10 km Mazeno Ridge. On the descent, they were pushed beyond the limits of survival. For this achievement, one of the most important Himalayan climbs of recent years and one which had eluded numerous previous expeditions, the pair were awarded the prestigious Piolet d'Or.
