SAVE CLACHNABEN UPDATE
Marijke Ross
There's not much news to pass on so far:
- Information regarding a new date for submission of planning application:
planning permission will be sought in July this year. The following flow
chart was obtained from the Scottish Government and clearly shows the
process the planning application (which is a section 37 due to its size) will
go through once it is lodged.
- There is no further news about the landownership for the access track. All
we have heard is that there are access issues currently holding up the planning
application.
- SSE has confirmed that the connection to the grid, at present, is planned
for the Fetteresso Substation. It will be joined by over head cables probably
supported on composite poles. Fetteresso substation is in Fetteresso Forest,
west of Stonehaven, in the Mid Hill area and can be located on the Landranger
OS map No. 45 (Stonehaven and Banchory) at grid ref NO 790855. It is most unlikely
that the cables will be buried, which is the story Coriolis have been sticking
to so far. So, over and above the windmills blotting the landscape, there will
also overhead cables with poles or pylons - undecided at this stage.
- SSE confirmed that on the windfarm site a transformer/ substation will be
needed.
We will post any updates on the Save
Clachnaben Facebook page.
