Government Consultation on the Proposed Wildlife Management in Scotland Bill

NEMT replied that we were supportive of the sections in the proposed legislation on the licensing of grouse shooting, muirburn and wildlife traps and snares.

We suggested that the definition of peat soil where muirburn is banned be reduced from 40 cm to 30 cm and that the provisions for rodent trapping be clarified as not including beavers (rodents and an increasingly important component of our "native" fauna).
