Wind Farms Update

This short piece, unfortunately, is in the nature of an obituary. Planning permission for the windfarm (Energy Consents Unit ref ECU0000676) was granted. See energyconsents.scot/ApplicationSearch.aspx

More information is available at the developer's website, glendyewindfarm.co.uk and from Feughside Community Council

The current Government policy of encouraging windfarms at whatever the cost is having the predicted effect!

Hill of Fare

We are hopeful of a better outcome for this windfarm. The planning application was submitted earlier this year. See the developerīs website at hilloffare-windfarm.co.uk and the opposition website at hilloffare.org

The application is now being considered by the Energy Consents Unit (ref ECU00004592) energyconsents.scot/ApplicationSearch.aspx

Over 1000 objections were submitted. We hope that this volume of objections will cause the planning officials to think twice about the applicability of the Government policy of promoting windfarms, even in the most unsuitable locations.

The local MSP, Alexander Burnett, helped in generating extra publicity and spurring people to submit objections.

We think that the Hill of Fare Information Group did a brilliant job in producing a detailed argument against the development, publicising it and guiding people in how to successfully object. We now await the outcome with fingers crossed.
