NEMT replied to this consultation earlier this year. On 28/6/24, the Board announced that it had decided to introduce a byelaw banning the lighting of open fires and barbecues in the Park during times of high fire risk. Detailed wording for the byelaw will now be drawn up for approval in the November Board meeting, followed by a further round of consultation in early 2025, allowing the byelaw to be introduced prior to the 2025 recreational season. It is proposed that the times of high fire risk will be defined by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
More details of the proposals can be found in the original consultation documents.
