The exciting news is that the John Muir Trust has put together a superb four day Conference, from 20 th to 23rd October this Autumn entitled “Wildland for Nature and People” to be held in the Festival Theatre in Pitlochry.
A visit to JMT's website, www.jmt.org, will show you the programme – and what a line up!! It will be chaired by Dick Balharry MBE, Chairman of JMT, and he will not be pulling his punches as the indoor part of the event will be rounded up by Dick making a "Declaration of the Wild" on behalf of us all.
Starting with a Corporate Dinner on the Wednesday night of the 20th, Thursday's line up includes Julian Pettifer - International TV Presenter and Lawrence Downing - Ex-President of the Sierra Club in the USA plus more local speakers in the shape of Cameron McNeish and Dr Bob Aitken. The evening has a Wild Land Charity Concert with such well-kent faces as Archie Fisher coming along to entertain the delegates. Friday has a discussion chaired by Lesley Riddoch, no less, followed by an afternoon of speakers and a Ceilidh Concert and Dance in the Atholl Palace Hotel. Saturday is to be spent on local visits and if these are of the standard the IYM Conference held back in 2002 in the Festival Theatre they will be well worthwhile.
Yes, something definitely worth looking forward to as we come out of summer 2004!
